Israeli rock legend Shalom Hanoch plays the Cedar Cultural Center (416 Cedar Ave. S., on the West Bank of Minneapolis) tonight, Thursday, March 10. From straight rock ‘n’ roll to lyrical accoustic ballads, Hanoch’s music has become a durable strand of Israeli culture.
The show tonight, featuring Hanoch and Moshe Levi, is presented by the Israel Center of the Minneapolis Jewish Federation.
Here’s a video of Hanoch in concert:
An official bio notes that Hanoch, following his release from the army, in 1968, “composed an incredible amount of songs. He began to sing with the Shlosharim band along with singers Beni Amdursky and Chanan Yovel. ”¨During the ’70s he formed the band Tamuz, and in 1977 finally released his first solo album Adam Betoch Atzmo (A Man within Himself). He then began to be recognized as a unique soloist performer and grew through the ’80s and the ’90s, recording successful albums and performing all over the country to become an Israeli rock legend.”
Doors open at 7 p.m., show starts 7:30 p.m. For information and tickets, click here.
