J Street Minnesota and J Street U Macalester are hosting a free screening and discussion of the Academy Award-nominated documentary The Gatekeepers, 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14 in Olin-Rice Science Center Room 250, Macalester College, St. Paul. (Large Map of Macalester College Campus).
The film screening will be followed by a discussion and light refreshments.
A story about director Dror Moreh, by AJW Editor Mordecai Specktor, was featured in the Nov. 8 edition of the newspaper. The Gatekeepers provides an unprecedented look at Israel’s history over the past three decades, with the narrative provided mainly by the six former heads of Shin Bet, Israel’s vaunted domestic security service — the Jewish state’s version of this country’s FBI and Secret Service.
Moreh will discuss the making of The Gatekeepers, and the issues raised by the film, when he appears 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 20 at the Sabes JCC, as part of Culture Blvd III, the series hosted by the Israel Center of the Minneapolis Jewish Federation.
