The Sabes JCC has announced that Joshua Wert will become its new chief executive officer on Oct. 3.
Wert is currently the chief operating officer for Black Ridge Oil & Gas, Inc. and the former president of Copycats Media. He has been active in the Jewish community for more than two decades as a volunteer and board member in various organizations, including Jewish Family and Children’s Service of Minneapolis, the University of Minnesota Jewish Law Caucus and the Amos and Celia Heilicher Minneapolis Jewish Day School.
Joshua has an MBA from the University of Minnesota, a JD from the University of Minnesota Law School and started his career as a management consultant with McKinsey & Company.
“His strong business and entrepreneurial background, coupled with his commitment to the Jewish community, makes him the ideal leader at this pivotal moment in our history,” Larry Chestler, president of the Sabes JCC board of directors, said in a press release. “We are confident that Joshua has the unique vision and passion necessary to take the Sabes JCC to the next level as one of the community’s most vibrant and relevant agencies.”

During the past six months, the JCC has expanded its Early Childhood Center, launched the new KidsFit Club, enhanced the Fitness Center’s range of classes, developed additional inclusion services for people with disabilities, and has continued to make progress against its annual fundraising and membership goals.
“The Sabes JCC is one of our community’s most valuable assets,” Wert said. “I am excited to have the opportunity to work with such a talented and passionate staff, and to partner with donors, members, and the community at large to further strengthen the Sabes JCC mission. I am confident that, together, we will enhance our current service offering and develop new and innovative programs for the benefit of the entire community.”
