Jewish Family and Children’s Service of Minneapolis (JFCS) and Jewish Family Service of St. Paul (JFS) are hosting a virtual event called “Keeping the Spirit Alive: A conference for caregivers supporting a loved one with Alzheimer’s or dementia” from 9 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. Sunday, May 2.
The bi-annual conference “is designed to support caregivers and let them know that they are not alone on their journey,” JFCS said in a news release.
“This free conference for caregivers, family members, lay leaders, clergy and professionals provides practical approaches for caregiving, tactics to take care of the caregiver, plus educational and research updates about dementia, through a Jewish lens. The conference also provides information about community resources that are available.”
Keynote speaker Jackie Wiechman will discuss her experience caring for her dad, who was diagnosed at age 71 with early-onset Alzheimer’s disease, while also raising a family.
