The Jewish Recovery Network (JRN) will host Dr. Barry Garfinkel 8 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10 in room 203 at Beth El Synagogue, 5224 W. 26th St., St. Louis Park. He will present “The Chicken and the Egg: Which Comes First? Use and Abuse, or Another Condition or Diagnosis?”
Prior to the speaker meeting, there will be a support group meeting at 7 p.m. (also in room 203) for those whose lives have been affected by addiction.
Garfinkel will share insights and information about depression, bipolar, seasonal affective disorder (SAD) and other diagnoses that often co-occur with addiction. He will also answer questions about various medications and diagnoses.
Garfinkel specializes in psychiatry, and has treated adolescents and adults for more than 40 years. He heads the Center for Developmental Psychopharmacology in Minneapolis.
