[The security guard shot at the Holocaust Museum has died; see Update.]
NBC is reporting that James Wenneker von Brunn, born in 1920, from Maryland, is the gunman involved in the shooting this afternoon at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C.Â
Brunn may have had connections to white supremacist hate groups, according to NBC.
MSNBC is reporting that two people in the museum and the gunman were injured in the shooting.
The neo-Nazi Stormfront Web site carries a 2002 post about the alleged gunman, which seems to indicate that von Brunn is a Jew-hater:

During WWII he served as PT-Boat captain, Lt. USNR, receiving a Commendation and four battle stars. For twenty years he was an advertising executive and film-producer in New York City. He is a member of Mensa, the high-IQ society.
In 1981 von Brunn attempted to place the treasonous Federal Reserve Board of Governors under legal, non-violent, citizens arrest. He was tried in a Washington, D.C. Superior Court; convicted by a Negro jury, Jew/Negro attorneys, and sentenced to prison for eleven years by a Jew judge. A Jew/Negro/White Court of Appeals denied his appeal. He served 6.5 years in federal prison. He is now an artist and author and lives on Maryland’s Eastern Shore.”

James Von Brunn endured having his house burned down in retaliation for publishing books that the jews viewed as hostile to their financial interests. James endured jail and personal sorrows as a consequence of his refusal to submit to tyranny.

The Washington Post initially reported:
A gunman armed with a shotgun walked into the U.S. Holocaust Museum in downtown Washington today and opened fire on a security guard before being shot and seriously wounded himself by at least one other guard, authorities said.
The security guard and the gunman were both transported to George Washington University Hospital with serious injuries, police said.
Sgt. David Schlosser, a spokesman for the U.S. Park Police, said the security guard and the gunman were apparently the only two persons who were shot. Initial reports said at least one other person sustained gunshot wounds.
U.S. Park Police said a gunman armed with a shotgun opened fire on the security guard and that other security guards returned fire. The gunman was reported wounded.
The shooting was reported to police at 12:52 p.m., and officers rushed to the scene just south of Independence Ave. bordering the Mall.
D.C. Fire Department spokesman Alan Etter said there was no immediate information on the shooter. He said two men were transported to a hospital with “serious” gunshot wounds.
One witness, Dave Unruh, of Wichita, Kan., said he was waiting to enter the museum when he heard one gunshot, then a sequence of four or five gunshots. He said he then heard someone scream, “Hit the floor!” He and his wife, Karen, and their two teenage grandchildren hit the floor and were subsequently herded out of the building by authorities.
Unruh called the experience “intensely, extremely frightening.”
By 1 p.m., the street in front of the museum was blocked by a museum police officer. A group of schoolchildren was rushed onto a chartered luxury coach and the bus driver struggled to pull away from the block.

CNN is reporting that the security guard shot at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum today has died.
The gunman, James von Brunn, involved in the shooting apparently is the author of a book called Kill the Best Gentiles! According to the Web site of the Holy Western Empire, the book — which also is known by its Hebrew title, Tob Shebbe Goyim Harog! (with a reference to Sanhedrin in the Talmud) —  “exposes the JEWS and explains what you must do to protect your White family. Is a must for every concerned parent and a manual for every student of World History.”
(We don’t really want to publicize these anti-Semitic and racist Web sites; but they shed light on the background of someone whose hateful ideology motivated him to create carnage. Choosing the Holocaust Museum as the site for violence compounds the outrageous violation. — Mordecai Specktor)
