In Golden Valley on Monday evening, The Metropolitan’s main room was packed for the fun and fast-paced artists’ showcase called P’Chotchka (5-8-15 AJW). The event was hosted by Rimon: The Minnesota Jewish Arts Council, which has been supporting Jewish arts for 20 years.
Each artist showed 18 slides, with 18 seconds of commentary about each image. Among the artists presenting Monday were (above, l to r): Keren Kroul, who discussed her colorful watercolors on paper; musician and playwright Joseph Vass (The Soul of Gershwin), who talked about his family’s Old World roots; Susan Stein, an actor, playwright and teacher, whose play, Etty, dramatizes the life of Dutch diarist Etty Hillesum, who perished in the Shoah; and photographer Eiden Spilker, whose work, both prose and photography, has won prizes in the Keren Or arts contest for teens (4-24-15 AJW).
The other artists presenting at P’Chotchka were filmmaker Emily Goldberg, artist and educator Ethan Rowan Pope, composer Adam Wernick and playwright Jenna Zark.
Rimon is an intiative of the Minneapolis Jewish Federation.
