In conjunction with a retrospective exhibit of Art Spiegelman’s artworks at The Jewish Museum in New York, a large-format volume, Co-Mix: A Retrospective of Comics, Graphics, and Scraps, has been published by Drawn & Quarterly. Best known for his Pulitizer Prize-winning graphic novel of the Holocaust, Maus (in which the Jews are depicted as mice, and the Germans as cats), Spiegelman also published RAW Magazine, with his wife, Françoise Mouly; drew comics about artists and covers for The New Yorker; and much more. Co-Mix includes an introduction by J. Hoberman. Spiegelman is scheduled to speak as part of the PenPals writers series on April 24 and 25 at the Hopkins Center for the Arts. — M.S.
