A note from Trina Porte, American Jewish World poetry editor:
If any of you were hurt or offended by my use of the term “events” to acknowledge October 7, 2023, in the October 2024 AJW poetry column, I am deeply sorry. I didn’t know how to encompass all the grief, outrage and pain into a word that wasn’t re-traumatizing. Reading “events” now seems too minimal a word choice, and for that I hope you will forgive me.
