The Twin Cities Jewish community will remember Debbie Freidman with a kumsitz of music and song 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 20 at the Sabes JCC, 4330 Cedar Lake Rd. S., St. Louis Park. Friedman, who was born in New York and raised in St. Paul, died Jan. 9 (1-21-11 AJW).
The Twin Cities tribute will be sponsored by her family, friends and community in partnership with the Sabes JCC.
“Debbie inspired us to sing together as a community, old and young together, which is why we have chosen this format,” Wendy Goldberg, music director of Shir Tikvah and one of the event’s organizers, said in a press release. “Debbie’s family and friends wanted to ensure that any memorial to Debbie would be a tribute to the friend they loved and a celebration of her legacy, which is why we invite the entire community to bring their musical instruments, their voices and their memories.”
