Rep. Keith Ellison, D-Minn., will speak about his experiences in Afghanistan at a symposium presented by World Without Genocide. Ellison will present “On the Ground in Afghanistan: The Law, the Military and Humanitarian Aid” on 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 27 in the classrooms at the Guthrie Theater, 818 S. Second St., Minneapolis.
The symposium will examine current strategies in military, legal and human rights arenas by the United States thoughout the war Afghanistan. Judge Bernard Boland, contract employee with the United States Agency for International Development Rule of Law program in Afghanistan, and Dr. Eric James, program director for the American Refugee Committee, will also speak.
The symposium will be moderated by Niels Schumann, vice dean of William Mitchell College of Law.
The event is held in conjunction with the Guthrie Theater’s Worldstage Series The Great Game: Afghanistan, a Tricycle Theatre production. Each part of the trilogy comprises four one-act plays exploring the history and culture of Afghanistan.
