Minneapolis native and Adath Jeshurun member Robyn Frank is a co-artistic director and founding member of Sweeter Theater Productions, a New York-based nonprofit theater company dedicated to providing opportunities for emerging female theater artists. Together with Maura Farver and Colleen Allen, of St. Paul, Frank is launching the Greener Theater Project, an initiative to create a sustainable theater company.
The initiative is in the running for a $5,000 grant as part of the Pepsi Refresh Project, which seeks to fund ideas from people, businesses and nonprofits that will have a positive impact.
The Greener Theater Project is currently ranked No. 3 out of more than 1,000 entries. If the project remains in the Top 10 when voting ends on March 31, Frank’s project will be fully funded.
Frank, the daughter of Dan and Barb Frank of Minneapolis, founded Sweeter Theater Productions in 2007. If the company receives the grant, it will stage Henrik Ibsen’s An Enemy of the People in July; the play has an environmental theme, and will be produced using sustainable methods and materials.
