Richard Gere plays the eponymous character in Norman: The Moderate Rise and Tragic Fall of a New York Fixer, by American-Israeli director Joseph Cedar (Beaufort, Footnote). The film premiered this year at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Film Festival, then had a lengthy run at the Edina Cinema. For Jewish World readers who missed it in the theaters, the film about a memorable schlemiel is now available on Blu-ray, DVD and digital release from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. The clever, enjoyable story revolves around Norman’s meeting with an Israeli politician (Lior Ashkenazi) who happens to become prime minister, and then complications ensue. The top-notch cast also includes Hank Azaria, Steve Buscemi, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Michael Sheen and Josh Charles. — Mordecai Specktor
