Two events in the Center for Jewish Studies Community Lecture Series will be held in October.
On Wednesday, Oct. 9, “Photographing the Jewish Nation: Pictures from S. An-sky’s Ethnographic Expeditions,” will be presented by Eugene Avrutin at the Museum of Russian Art, 5500 Stevens Av., Minneapolis. Avrutin is an associate professor of modern European Jewish history at the University of Illinois. The event will begin at 7:30 p.m. with the exhibition open to viewing at 7 p.m.
On Monday, Oct. 14, at 7:30 p.m., Stanford University professor Ari Kelman will discuss “A Cultural History of Yiddish Radio, 1923-1955,” at Beth Jacob Synagogue, 1179 Victoria Curve, St. Paul.
