Mayim Rabim, the Jewish Reconstructionist Congregation of the Twin Cities, and attenders of Minneapolis Friends Meeting (Quakers) will host a screening of Love Free or Die, a documentary that explores the life, risks and courage of Gene Robinson, the first-ever gay bishop of the Episcopalian Church in America to be elected to the position of Archbishop.
The screening will take place 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27 at the Friends Meeting House, 4401 York Ave. S., Minneapolis. The evening will include dialogue and discussion about the film’s contents and community action regarding the upcoming vote on amending Minnesota’s constitution.
Homemade desserts will also be served. Admission is open to all and a free will offering will be accepted at the door; proceeds will help cover the cost of the event and support the Groundswell for Courage Foundation, a national group working for equality in all aspects of life for the GLBTQ community. Any additional funds collected will be shared with both congregations to further social justice initiatives.
