The Twin Cities Polish Festival and the Film Society of Minneapolis St. Paul will present the Twin Cities Polish FilmFest Aug. 10-16 at the St. Anthony Main Theatre in downtown Minneapolis. The film festival will run concurrently with the Twin Cities Polish Festival on Aug. 11 and 12.
Among the festival’s offerings are two films of Jewish interest.
Irena Sendler: In the Name of Their Mothers tells the story of a group of young Polish women who outfoxed the Nazis during World War II to save the lives of thousands of Jewish children. The film will be shown on Friday, Aug. 10, Saturday, Aug. 11 and Tuesday, Aug. 14.
Harbour of Hope tells the story of three concentration camp survivors who were rescued by the Red Cross and transported to Malmö, Sweden. The film features Josef Rozenberg, who now lives in St. Louis Park, who came to Malmö as a young boy after losing his family. The film will be shown on Sunday, Aug. 12 and Monday, Aug. 13.
The festival will also screen The Fearless Vampire Killers by Jewish filmmaker Roman Polanski on Friday, Aug 10 and Sunday, Aug. 12.
