The Minnesota Jewish Theatre Company (MJTC) production of 2.5 Minute Ride by Lisa Kron, featuring local actress Sally Wingert in the solo performance, will be presented 7:30 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday; 8 p.m. Saturday; and 2 p.m. Sunday through May 10 at Hillcrest Center, 1978 Ford Pkwy., St. Paul.
The show takes the audience on trips with Lisa and her father — to Germany as they revisit his youth and the sorrow of a teenager who escaped the Nazis by kindertransport, to Sandusky, Ohio, to ride roller coasters at Cedar Point amusement park, and Canarsie, Brooklyn, to experience the wedding of Lisa’s brother and his Internet bride.Â
AJW theater critic Doris Rubenstein described the production as “a roller coaster of numerous emotional highs and a few lows” (4-24-09 AJW).
“This production of 2.5 Minute Ride is worth seeing,” Rubenstein wrote. “It provides audience members with an additional 87.5 minutes of laughs, memories, ideas, and stories that they will remember for an even longer time to come.”
