Bet Shalom Congregation Children’s Choirs — Shir Tzair and K’Ton Tons

Shir Tzair and K’Ton Tons are Bet Shalom’s Children’s Choirs and welcome students from kindergarten through sixth grade. They meet throughout the school year and perform at several holiday.

The Beth El Choir sings for the High Holy Days and for monthly services at Knollwood Place through the spring. The choir also participates in Shabbat Shira, and other Shabbatot and programs during the year. New choir members can sing either for programs during the year, for the High Holy Days or both. The choir is multigenerational in its make-up; both adult and youth members (post-bar/bat mitzvah age) are welcome to join.


Chai-light Chorus/Tru2life Music

For nearly 16 years, the Chai-light Chorus has entertained multiple generations of audiences performing Jewish musical material, popular music, and great songs of stage and screen. Directed and accompanied by Mark Bloom, the Chai-light Chorus repertoire features a wide range of popular music from American, Israeli and Yiddish culture, as well as classic jazz standards and inventive song parodies. The only prerequisite to joining this spirited vocal ensemble is that you must be 65 years young or older and “not take yourself too seriously.” There is no fee, courtesy of tax-deductible donations to Tru2life (L’hayim) Music. The chorus rehearses every Wednesday morning at Knollwood Place, and performs locally throughout the year.

Harmonic Convergence

Harmonic Convergence is the title of a Friday evening spiritual program promoting African and Jewish American connections. The gospel-flavored styles are set to sacred songs in both English and Hebrew that follow the chronology of a typical Friday evening Erev Shabbat service. Portions of this service are available to be “prayformed” for various faith-based, cultural and community groups, featuring members of the Grammy-Award winning Sounds of Blackness.

Shir Harmony is a women’s a capella group dedicated to raising funds to support local and Israeli organizations. Called “troubadours at meaningful moments,” we perform around the Twin Cities at various special events, lifecycle events, fundraisers and more. Director Tom Bartsch leads a talented adult choir on the High Holydays to inspire members in their spirituality. The choir helps periodically on Shabbat throughout the year to share the joy of music and to provide more service engagement. Once a month we add a variety of instruments to our Friday evening Shabbat service. We have attracted people for progressive change for more than a decade.

Temple of Aaron hosts a variety of cultural programs throughout the year. We host an Artist-in-Residence who joins us for an entire week of fun and learning for all age groups and the community at large. Our Scholar-in-Residence speaks during services and leads learning sessions throughout a weekend. We host an Athlete-in-Residence to learn more about Jews in sports while enjoying a fun afternoon of sports related activities. Temple of Aaron hosts CrossRiver KosherFest, the only kosher food festival in Minnesota, providing an opportunity to taste kosher food from around the Midwest and expand the kosher experience for those who want to learn more.
